How to Roast Your Own Coffee Beans

how to roast your own coffeeEver wonder how to roast your own coffee beans? Well, it’s easier than you think. All you need are some green coffee beans, a hot-air popcorn popper, and a few other things found in most kitchens.

It just so happens that I have an article on this very topic in the January issue of Grit Magazine. “Roast Your Own” discusses all the fine points of roasting your own coffee at home. Not sure if you can get your own copy on newsstands, yet. But you can read it online here.

So hop on over to Grit, one of my favorite homesteading resources, and study how to roast your own coffee. Then come back here with any of your questions.

Or, if you’ve ever roasted your own coffee before, I’d love to hear about your experiences.

Happy New Year,

    Carol,

I started roasting my own beans in a cast iron dutch oven on the stove a few months back, absolutely awesome and easier than I had thought. Hardest part was I have several friends that thought it was great coffee and was I going to share? Gave away the better part of several of my first batches!
